Jack Jones

October 25: Jack Jones, the Grammy-award winning singer of the Love Boat theme song, has died at age 86.

Jones' step-daughter, Nicole Whitty, told The Hollywood Reporter that he passed away on Wednesday night at Eisenhower Medical in Rancho Mirage, California following a two-year battle with Leukemia.

The singer and actor was known for being the voice behind the Love Boat theme song for more than 200 episodes beginning in 1977, but Jones had already had a long and successful career by then.

Michael Kelcourse

October 24: Southern Charm star Michael Kelcourse has died at the age of 71.

Kelcourse was known for working as a butler for reality star Patricia Altschul, 83, who shared a sweet tribute to Kelcourse following his death.

The news was also shared on the Caringbridge website, which said he died on October 22 from "complications related to a spinal cord injury and stroke".

Dick Pope

October 24: Academy Award nominated cinematographer Dick Pope has died. He was 77.

The news was announced in a statement by the British Society of Cinematographers.

"It is with deepest sadness that we learn of the passing of our friend and colleague Dick Pope BSC," they wrote.

Ron Ely

October 24: Tarzan star Ron Ely has died at the age of 86, with his daughter confirming the sad news to Fox News Digital.

His heartbroken daughter Kirsten issued an emotional statement to the publication and shared it via her Instagram page underneath a series of pictures of the pair together over the years.

In her heart-wrenching post, Kirsten said how much she idolised her father and how "honoured" she is to be his daughter.

Lynda Obst

October 23: Hollywood producer Lynda Obst, known for some of the most beloved romantic comedies of recent years, including Sleepless in Seattle, has died at the age of 74.

Obst's death was confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter by her son, Oly Obst.

Her exact cause of death has not been reported, but the publication reports she was diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the years before her death.

Michael Newman

October 23: Michael Newman, the real-life lifeguard who rose to fame playing 'Newmie' on Baywatch, has died. He was 68.

According to Matthew Felker, who wrote, directed and produced the docuseries After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun, Newman died on Sunday (Monday in Australia) at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Centre "surrounded by his family and friends, per The Hollywood Reporter.

He had battled Parkinson's disease for 18 years, with his life-changing completely the moment doctors confirmed his diagnosis.

Janusz Olejniczak

October 22: Polish musician and teacher Janusz Olejniczak, who played the piano parts in the 2002 Oscar-winning movie The Pianist, has died at the age of 72, his family said overnight.

The family's statement to the media said Olejniczak died on Sunday of a heart attack.

The statement said that his “extraordinary musical sensitivity, especially in the interpretations of music by Frederic Chopin, brought him international fame and recognition.”

Paul Di'Anno

October 22: Iron Maiden's former frontman Paul Di'Anno has died. He was 66.

Metal label Conquest Music confirmed the vocalist's death in a note shared to his Facebook page on behalf of his family.

It confirmed Di'Anno – born Paul Andrews – died at his home in Salisbury, England.

October 21: Aussie rocker Andrew Picouleau has died following a long battle with a "serious" illness.

It was his bandmate who confirmed the death of Picouleau – who is best known for his work with The Metronomes, and Dave Graney and the Coral Snakes, and Sacred Cowboys – in a series of emotional messages.

Mitzi Gaynor

October 18: Mitzi Gaynor, the effervescent dancer and actor who starred as Nellie Forbush in the 1958 film of South Pacific and appeared in other musicals with Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra and Gene Kelly, has died. She was 93.

Gaynor, among the last survivors of the so-called golden age of the Hollywood musical, died of natural causes in Los Angeles on Thursday morning (overnight in Australia), her long-time managers Rene Reyes and Shane Rosamonda confirmed in a statement to The Associated Press.

Liam Payne

October 17: Liam Payne has died. He was 31.

The former One Direction star died after falling from the third floor of his hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to state police, as reported by CNN.

According to police, Payne was staying at a hotel on Costa Rica Street in Palermo.

October 17: Ian 'Ollie' Olsen, the legendary Australian multi-instrumentalist, composer and sound designer who was once the bandmate of INXS' Michael Hutchence, has died. He was 66.

It was the Melbourne-born performer's family who had the job nobody wants to ever be forced to do, announcing Olsen's death to his social media followers in an emotional statement this week.

Kaseem Ryan

October 15: Rapper, producer and New York firefighter Ka, born Kaseem Ryan, has died. He was 52.

The musician died "unexpectedly" on Saturday 12 October, according to a statement shared to his Instagram profile. No cause of death has been reported.

"We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Kaseem Ryan (1972-2024), the rapper and producer known as Ka, who died unexpectedly in New York City on October 12, at the age of 52," the statement read.

Bruce Murray

October 15: Australia's entertainment industry has lost a titan, with stars of long-running soap Home and Away mourning their cherished co-worker.

Bruce Murray, who worked as a key grip behind-the-scenes, has died just over a year after going public with his diagnosis.

"What a man, never a dull moment on the set or on the dance floor," Sarah Roberts, who played Willow Harris on the show before leaving in 2021, wrote on social media.

DJ Jackmaster

October 14: DJ Jackmaster has died. He was 38.

It was a heartbreaking message no one wants to ever be forced to write that confirmed the news, with the Scottish musician's family announcing in a statement that he died over the weekend.

Taking to his official Instagram page, his family confirmed that DJ Jackmaster – born Jack Revill – "tragically died in Ibiza" on the morning of October 12 "following complications arising from an accidental head injury".

October 12: Jack Ponti, a former bandmate of Jon Bon Jovi with whom he spent his early career, has died aged 66.

His obituary describes him as a "musical genius" who also shaped the sounds of rock legends Alice Cooper, Nelson, and Skid Row.

According to his obituary, the music legend – whose real name was Giacomo Pontoriero – died on October 7. No cause of death was mentioned.

José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar

October 11: Cuban artist José Manuel Carbajal Zaldívar, better known as El Taiger, has died at 37 days after being shot.

The singer had suffered a gunshot wound to the head a week before his death on October 10 in Miami, USA.

Zaldívar's family confirmed the "shocking and heartbreaking" news in an official statement shared on his Instagram Stories.

Cheryl Murray

October 11: Beloved Coronation Street star Cheryl Murray has died at the age of 71.

The English actress, who hailed from the UK's Liverpool, died in September last year, but the news of her shock passing has only just been revealed.

ITV said in an official statement: "We are saddened to hear of the recent passing of Cheryl Murray, our thoughts are with her family and friends."

Ethel Kennedy

October 11: Ethel Kennedy, the wife of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy who raised their 11 children after he was assassinated and remained dedicated to social causes and the family's legacy for decades thereafter, died on Thursday, her family said. She was 96.

Kennedy had been hospitalised after suffering a stroke in her sleep on October 3, her family said.

"It is with our hearts full of love that we announce the passing of our amazing grandmother," Joe Kennedy III posted on X.
