You probably can’t host a Harry Potter trivia game without including questions that revolve around the main character - Harry himself.
Regardless of whether you’ve read the books or seen the movies (most fans have probably done both), you have to know a thing or two about “the boy who lived”, the wizard who faced and defeated Voldemort, the character who Albus Dumbledore cares deeply about, and the boy who can communicate with snakes.
Harry Potter can be analyzed from many different perspectives, as it’s a character which takes on several different roles and exhibits different behaviors depending on whether he’s with his non-magic family, his friends, or fighting to save the magical world.

Hogwarts Quiz Questions
“All these people saying they never got their Hogwarts letter: you got the letter. You went to Hogwarts. We were all there together.”
Hogwarts is a school, but it’s unlike any other school we’ve ever seen. If all schools resembled Hogwarts even a bit, most pupils and students would have no problem getting their diplomas whatsoever. In fact, they’ll do so with great enthusiasm.
Discussing Hogwarts as a magical educational institution may help you discuss your peers’ educational background, their opinions about it, and their qualifications. In other words, you can “use” Hogwarts to initiate a conversation which applies to your teammates’ individual educational experiences. It’d be also cool to see how much they believe they apply their formal knowledge in their everyday job. How do they feel about it?
Hogwarts may be magical and completely unrealistic, but your employees’ experiences are quite real and valid, and most importantly: worth listening to.

Hufflepuff Quiz Questions
"You might belong in Hufflepuff, Where they are just and loyal, those patient Hufflepuffs are true, and unafraid of toil."
― The Sorting Hat, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
This Hogwarts house values loyalty, justice, patience, and hard work, as the quote above suggests.
Now, Hufflepuff is an imaginary house (as we already explained with Hogwarts), but your company’s values are more than realistic. So, continuing along the Gryffindor lines, how does loyalty appear in your office? Does it mean someone standing up for someone else? Keeping a professional secret? Sticking up for a client? What about justice? Is it getting an equal salary (for workers in the same job position)? The same vacation days?
Next, how do you approach the concept of patience in your company? Does it mean that being patient sometimes affects project delivery because you decided to wait more on those who procrastinate, for example? How does patience relate to hard work? Do they go hand in hand? How so?
We hope these questions will be food for thought, and now onto some easier ones (probably?).

Slytherin Quiz Questions
“We Slytherins are brave, yes, but not stupid. For instance, given the choice, we will always choose to save our own necks.”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Finally - the last of the four Hogwarts houses. Slytherin treasures resourcefulness, leadership, ambition, and cunning behavior. Slytherins are capable of doing whatever it takes to get their way.
Now, it’d be interesting to discuss how Slytherin values would apply to a corporate context. What’s even more important to consider, however, is whether they should apply at all.
For instance, resourcefulness, leadership, and ambition sound appealing, and they should indeed be cherished as skills. That said, cunning behavior isn’t something a lot of companies want to see in their employees. That doesn’t mean it isn’t there, though.
Achieving one’s goals through manipulation, deceit, and in a sly manner may help employees only in the short run. However, sooner or later such behaviors are not only discovered, but strongly rejected, too.
Is this something your company ever had to deal with? If it did, what happened? What caused such behavior? How did the rest of the workers react? How did you feel as an employer?
It’s not all so bleak and quite serious though, and we hope the questions below can assure you of that.

Magic Spells Quiz Questions
“As there is little foolish wand-waving here, many of you will hardly believe this is magic. I don't expect you will really understand the beauty of the softly simmering cauldron with its shimmering fumes, the delicate power of liquids that creep through human veins, bewitching the mind, ensnaring the senses.... I can teach you how to bottle fame, brew glory, even stopper death — if you aren't as big a bunch of dunderheads as I usually have to teach."
― Severus Snape, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Expelliarmus
Wingardium Leviosa
Petrificus Totalus
Sectumsempra

However, the question remains: what kind of parallel can we draw here? Should it be about the words we use and how they harm or stimulate our coworkers? If this resonates with you, by all means - discuss it with your team.

Quidditch Quiz Questions
“As we have developed the game of Quidditch, so it has developed us; Quidditch unites witches and wizards from all walks of life, bringing us together to share moments of exhilaration, triumph and (for those who support the Chudley Cannons) despair.”
- J.K.Rowling, Quidditch Through the Ages
You can’t explain Quidditch. You have to see how it’s played (or at least read how J.K. Rowling explains it). Period.
Now, as Quidditch is a leisure activity (although it affects the players’ lives, as well as how many points they’re able to bring their houses), it’s worth conjuring how your workers’ leisure activities, hobbies, and sport activities they may engage in affect them on the whole. Of course, it’s worth reflecting upon the activities you engage in as well.
For instance, are you sitting in front of the screen all day? How much anxiety and stress do you have to deal with before each product launch? What do you do about it? Do you get massages, go swimming, go for a walk, or run? How do you get rid of any negative energy? And what is it that you and your employees do to look after your mental health?
Not everyone will think that Quidditch is the example of bringing these issues, but do we really need a specific reason to talk about such significant problems?
Now, onto the actual Quidditch trivia questions:
92. What color is the snitch in Quidditch?
Answer: Golden.
93. What is the time limit for each game in Quidditch?

Frequently Asked Questions
What can I use such Harry Potter trivia questions for?
These Harry Potter trivia questions are to be used in informal contexts such as team-building, after-work gatherings, fun activities, and so on.
Using Harry Potter trivia questions in a corporate context may seem fun for some, but it’s those relaxing moments with such trivia games which allow for proper and spontaneous team bonding. In essence, such trivia games are a great way to boost employee engagement.
It’s up to you when and where to use them. For instance, you can host a Harry Potter trivia game during an office party; you may present it as a warming-up activity, or you could combine it with other activities, too.
For instance, let’s say you and your team have decided to play an online escape game, but you wish to play several games, and you want them to match one other thematically. You’ve chosen Harry Potter as a theme, and this is one of the ways you may approach this: you could play the trivia first, and then opt for a Harry Potter-based online escape game.
Next, if you’re looking for a competitive game, and you also wish to make it intellectual you may host these trivia questions as part of a quiz. You need to divide your team members into several groups, decide how to award them (first place, second place, and third place), and pick adequate prices as well.
Also, keep in mind that you don’t really need any specific occasion or informal event to host a Harry Potter trivia game. Such trivia games are meant to be fun, and sometimes spontaneity is part of having fun. And what this “spontaneous” organizing looks like, ultimately depends on each company’s approach, as well as every employer’s understanding.
How do I pick the right Harry Potter trivia questions and how many do I need?
If you’re a true Harry Potter fan, you’ll probably struggle to choose the right questions - put simply, you’ll want to include all of them!
However, if you need a specific number of questions and your trivia game has a time limit, you certainly need to make up your mind and pick the most suitable questions.
We suggest that you start by picking the type of questions your team members will likely want to answer. For instance, do you think your team will be more willing to answer questions about individual characters or about the four Hogwarts houses? If it’s the former, opt for the Harry, Hermione, and Ron questions; if it’s the latter, try choosing some of the questions which deal with the houses separately.
Next, if your employees feel quite passionate about the magic in Harry Potter, they know which spell does what, and are pretty knowledgeable about the potions as well, you have to focus on including the Magic Spells questions.
And if they’re quite fond of Quidditch as a sport activity and an important event in that wizarding world, it goes without saying that the Quidditch questions shouldn’t be neglected.
All in all, we suggest including a wide range of questions for a much more varied and creative trivia game. The exact number of questions is up to you (and your team).
What if (some of) my employees don’t like the Harry Potter series or haven’t read/seen them?
We thought a lot about how to approach answering this question, and lucky for us, we came across a very useful article published on the Wizarding World. What better way to handle this subject than sharing tips and suggestions from an official Harry Potter site? That said, we just took the basic points of these suggestions, and took the freedom to adjust them to our article’s needs accordingly.
Tip no. 1
First of all, if some of your employees don’t like Harry Potter, it’s important not to judge them. You shouldn’t behave as though they’ve ruined the Harry Potter trivia game plans, as they’re not able to take part in it.
Plus, understanding what your employees don’t like gives you the opportunity to learn what it is they like and enjoy reading/watching. This can ultimately help you not only plan your next trivia games, but keep in mind their interests and passions for other events and activities, too. We discuss this further in the last tip.
Tip no. 2
Don’t try to force them to get acquainted with the Harry Potter story and don’t overwhelm them with your knowledge. This might cause them to resist the series even more than they already do.
Just think of something you aren’t quite fond of or simply can’t stand. How would you feel if someone tried to sell it to you?
Tip no. 3
If you do end up discussing magic things with them, however, opt for the simple ones first. For instance, instead of bombarding your employees with concepts such as dementors, goblins, and thestrals, try starting with werewolves, giants, ghosts, and centaurs.
Such concepts, although unrealistic and quite abstract, are still much more graspable than the others because they exist in other stories. Put simply, people will find them familiar regardless of whether you’re talking about Harry Potter or another magical tale.
The same applies to other aspects from the series. Namely, if you talk about things such as magic spells, potions, wands, invisibility cloaks, and levitating, your employees will be able to comprehend these much better than if you start by introducing concepts such as Horcruxes, Howlers, or deluminators. The latter may sound much more appealing to you, as you know their significance to the overall story, but it may be intimidating for someone who doesn’t even know what the Harry Potter world looks like at all.
Tip. no 4
Notice how your employees react when you talk to them about Harry Potter. Do they look interested in what you have to say? Are they intrigued? Or are they bored and are just trying to be nice to you?
Try using the Harry Potter movies “as bait”. In other words, if someone isn’t quite familiar with Harry Potter, chances are they’ll wish to see how that world looks like visually much more than they’d be willing to read extensively about it and imagine it themselves (except for some hardcore bookworms).
Tip no. 5
Now, even if you manage to hook your employees on checking out the Harry Potter series (remember, you’re not forcing them, you’re just planting the seeds) - don’t spoil things.
Imagine reading the books or watching the movie knowing how it ends - for instance, knowing beforehand that Voldemort gets defeated, Harry ends up with Ginny, Ron and Hermione are together, and so on. Would you perceive the whole story to be exciting? Not really, right?
Tip no. 6
Use the time you’re conversing with your employees to discover their other interests. For instance, do they dislike magical stories altogether, or is it just Harry Potter in particular? What type of characters, books, movies, and “worlds” are they fond of?
This won’t only help you get to know your employees more on a personal level, but it will be useful for planning the next trivia game. For instance, if most of your employees who dislike Harry Potter tell you they’re into comedies or TV shows, you may decide to incorporate such trivia within your next game plans. Or if they enjoy comic books, how about preparing a trivia game based on comics?
Just find what your employees might be into - who knows, you may end up being interested in something you haven’t heard/read/seen, and so this may be an opportunity for you to further explore this on your own.
In essence, if Harry Potter trivia questions aren’t your team’s cup of tea, there are other much more general trivia questions you may opt for instead and make sure everyone’s happy.
Final Words
All in all, Harry Potter-themed trivia can be used in a wide range of informal corporate settings. And you know better than anyone else what works for your team and what doesn’t.
Also, if we managed to somehow help you with making choices and informed decisions regarding trivia games, we’re truly honored.
On the whole, we hope you found our questions to be as magical as the Harry Potter world itself!
